City-Wide Open Burning Regulations
Beginning July 1, 2023, several new regulations concerning Open Burning will go into effect for the City of Aurora. Enforcement of these regulations will begin on July 1, 2023. These regulations will be a change for our community, so we encourage citizens to get familiar with them early! The biggest of these regulations will be that the burning of household trash will not longer be allowed, but there are other aspects of the regulations that will affect how you may have done things in the past regarding open burning.

Monthly Bulky Item Collection
Got a new television or mattress/box springs and don't know what to do with the old one to get rid of it? Or that old couch that has been taking up space in the garage? We have you covered!
City of Aurora Residential Trash Services customers will receive bulky item pickup service as part of their monthly service. One bulky item per month will be picked up at no cost to the resident. These items are larger items that are usually an extra cost to the customer for the trash collector to pick up; the City has added this service to your regular service with no extra cost to the customer.
Residents must come into the Community Development Department to request a bulky item tag. Bulky items are picked up on the third Friday of each month. Requests for a pick-up tag must be made on the Wednesday prior by 4pm.

Residential Trash Restricted Items
There are many items that cannot be collected by the trash hauler because it cannot go into the landfill. If these are left in your trash for pickup, your trash WILL NOT be picked up. Here are common examples, but this is not an exhaustive list. Doty trash will contact the City Billing Dept. and we will attempt to contact you and let you know what needs to be done to correct any problem items that cannot be accepted.
